An Industry Voice Since 1968
The Canadian Home Products Trade Association (CHPTA) is a national non-profit organization previously known as the Canadian Hardware & Housewares Manufacturers Association (CHHMA). As per the past 50+ years, the Association continues to serve and represent manufacturers, brand owners and sales agents working within the Canadian home products industry, but also looks to offer value to other sectors of the industry including retailers, dealers, distributors, builders, suppliers, tradespeople and end-consumers.
The CHPTA works on behalf of the industry lobbying federal and provincial governments on issues affecting our members. The CHPTA has been an effective voice on important issues like product safety, data synchronization, product & packaging stewardship and vendor-customer terms & practices.
Education, Market Information, Networking, Money Saving Opportunities
Throughout the year, the CHPTA hosts a number of educational seminars and webinars designed to provide members with the latest marketplace insights and trends as well as personal/managerial skill-building topics to help members in their day-to-day operations. In addition, presentations from key retailers in the industry are also arranged to provide members with insights and important vendor expectation feedback including face-to-face interaction opportunities with top retail executives. Events are held at very affordable rates and in some cases, at no charge to members.
One of the most valuable benefits of CHPTA membership can be the information obtained from the Association’s CORE, SMART & HR peer networking groups where members can attack critical problems in a friendly forum, discuss best practices and benchmark their company with others in the industry.
The CHPTA provides an industry-specific salary/compensation report based on surveys conducted every two years and distributes several market reports by product categories for members each year. The Association keeps members updated on marketplace, stewardship and legislative news through a bi-weekly e-newsletter and bulletins when needed.
Each year, the CHPTA hosts several social events such as Maple Leaf Night, Night at the Races, the Industry Cocktail and Golf Tournaments offering members valuable networking opportunities in relaxed social environments with industry peers, affiliate partners, and retail customers. These events often serve as excellent teambuilding occasions for members and where possible, include charitable components.
The CHPTA offers a number of money saving programs for our member companies as well as individual employees. Key affiliate partners are top experts in their fields and can provide valuable advice and services to benefit members. Some of these programs have saved member companies thousands of dollars.
